A rug can accent a piece of furniture in a room. A rug can be purchased to accent a piece of furniture by matching the colors in the furniture to most of the colors in a room. The rug can than be placed in front of the furniture. An example of a rug highlighting furniture is a smaller rug being placed in front of a couch with similar colors or in the middle of several pieces of furniture to tie them all together.
